At the Carver Center in Georgetown, we hit the court with pickleball professional Kasia Carr to test out Sport Court’s Response Maple Select modular flooring. The mission was to see how the surface plays, how the ball reacts, and whether it’s a viable option for serious pickleball players.
The Right Ball for the Right Bounce
Kasia, a 5.2 DUPR-rated player, noticed one thing right away—the ball’s bounce.
“This one is a little bit bouncier,” she pointed out, referring to the way different balls responded to the surface.
Enter the Compost-a-ball, made from wheat straw and rice husk. Not only did it perform the best on this surface, but it’s also biodegradable in just 100 days. That’s a win-win—consistent play without unnecessary environmental impact. Because let’s be real, having fun shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet.
How Does the Floor Hold Up?
Kasia has played on traditional wood gym floors before, and when asked how Response Maple Select compares, she said:
“Very similar. You’re going to have some spots where the ball dies, but that happens on most indoor courts.”
Sport Court’s Maple Select flooring is designed to mimic the look and feel of real hardwood but with added benefits—shock absorption, moisture resistance, and lower maintenance. Plus, it meets industry standards for indoor sports flooring, meaning players get a consistent, safe surface for both competitive and recreational play.
Would She Play Here Again?
Absolutely. Kasia sees Response Maple Select as an ideal surface for drilling, recreational games, and lessons.
“I would definitely come out here and drill, play some fun games. Probably teach some lessons out here as well,” she said.
With the right ball, this setup keeps the strategy and integrity of the game intact, making it a solid choice for indoor pickleball.
Sport Court’s Response Maple Select offers a reliable, high-performance surface for indoor pickleball. When paired with a ball like the Compost-a-ball, it delivers a game experience that’s both competitive and environmentally responsible.
Big thanks to Kasia Carr for putting this court to the test! If you’re considering an indoor pickleball surface, ball selection is key—and this setup is a great option for training, lessons, and recreational play.
