At Sport Court of Austin, we believe in making the court building process as smooth and stress-free as possible. From your first phone call to the final walkthrough, we guide you through every step.

So, what does it take to turn your backyard into the ultimate sports destination?

Here’s what you can expect when working with us.

Initial Consultation and Site Evaluation

Every great project starts with a conversation. When you reach out to Sport Court of Austin, we take the time to learn about your goals, budget, and the vision you have for your court. Within two business days, one of our team members will follow up with you to discuss:

  • What sports you plan to play.
  • How much space you have available.
  • Any initial questions about costs and construction.

Once we’ve covered the basics, we schedule an on-site evaluation. This is where we assess your property for key factors like:

Slope & Drainage: Does the land need leveling or special drainage solutions?

Access: Can our equipment and materials easily reach the site?

Customization: What colors, components, and features will enhance your court?

This visit ensures that everything is planned correctly from the start, minimizing surprises later in the process.

Finalizing the Design and Contract

Once we’ve evaluated your site and confirmed the details, we put together a comprehensive project plan. This includes:

  • Final court layout and location.
  • Choice of components (basketball hoops, lighting, fencing, net systems, etc.).
  • Surface type and color selection.
  • Estimated timeline and cost breakdown.

At this stage, we present you with a contract that outlines everything you need to know about the project. We encourage you to review it carefully and ask any questions. Once the contract is signed and a down payment is made, your court officially enters our construction queue.

Preparing for Construction

Before we break ground, a few key steps need to be completed to avoid delays:

  • Permits & HOA Approvals – If required, we’ll guide you through the process.
  • Utility Marking (Call 811) – Ensuring no underground lines interfere with construction.
  • Clearing the Site – Removing obstacles like trees, rocks, or old structures.

Since we operate on a first-come, first-served schedule, your sales representative will keep you updated on project timelines and any factors that could affect scheduling, like weather or other site preparations.

Site Preparation and Concrete Work

Now, the transformation begins. During this phase, we:

  • Excavate and level the site to create a solid foundation.
  • Prepare the area for concrete, ensuring proper grading and drainage.
  • Pour and finish the slab, using either a post-tensioned concrete system or a traditional slab, depending on the site and court needs.

Concrete work is one of the most critical steps in the process. We’ll coordinate with you to ensure a smooth pour day, as this is a one-time event that requires perfect conditions.

Installing Court Components

As the concrete sets, we move on to installing your court’s features:

  • Basketball hoops
  • Net systems for pickleball, volleyball, or tennis
  • LED lighting for night play
  • Fencing or ball containment for safety

It’s important to keep the site clear of contractors, pets, and children during this phase to allow for a fast and safe installation.

Surfacing and Painting

The surfacing process depends on whether you’ve chosen acrylic surfacing or modular tile.

For Acrylic Surfacing:

  • The slab is acid washed and prepped to help paint adhere properly.
  • A black acrylic resurfacer is applied as a base coat.
  • Two layers of high-performance color coating are applied.
  • Game lines are painted with extreme precision.
  • Since weather affects drying times, we monitor conditions to ensure the best application. Once completed, stay off the surface for 48 hours to allow for full curing.

For Modular Tile Surfaces:

  • Precision-trimmed tiles are installed, ensuring a seamless fit.
  • Lines are painted to match your chosen sports.
  • The court is tested for proper bounce and alignment.

Final Walk-through

Before handing over the court, we conduct a final walkthrough to:

  • Show you how to use and maintain your court.
  • Answer any final questions.
  • Ensure every detail meets your expectations.
  • Now comes the best part—playing on your brand-new court! Whether it’s a heated pickleball match, a family basketball showdown, or a late-night volleyball game under the lights, your court is ready to deliver years of enjoyment.

And remember, Sport Court of Austin is always here to help. If you have questions or need maintenance tips down the road, we’re just a call away.
