At Sport Court® of Austin, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality court construction projects from start to finish. While we always aim to oversee every aspect of a project to ensure the best results, we understand that there are times when clients may want to take on certain parts themselves or enlist the help of others. If things do not turn out as planned, we are here to step in and rectify any issues. We have seen it all and are equipped to manage almost any situation that arises.

Why some choose to DIY

Cost management is a common concern among our clients, and we completely understand the need to find a balance between fair pricing and achieving the desired final product. In this particular case, the existing court had a significant slope, making it nearly impossible to use for basketball, pickleball, or any other activity. The slope was so severe that a basketball placed at the top would roll right off the court. The client asked us for a solution, and we were ready to help.

Our Solution

We began by addressing the slope issue to create a level playing surface, while still allowing for proper drainage. It is crucial to have just the right amount of slope so that water does not pool on the court, yet it still is unnoticeable to players. Building a slab for court purposes requires a specific skill set that differs from general concrete pouring.

You can see in the images in the accompanying video provided that there is a significant difference between the original and the new, leveled court. The old court now resembles a walkway, highlighting the extensive work we did to bring it up to standard. The client was extremely appreciative of the final product, which turned out beautifully.

Additional Enhancements

To complete the project, we also added fencing around the entire court due to the elevation changes we implemented. This project is a great example of our turnkey operation capabilities. While we aim to offer the best prices for concrete, it is sometimes comforting to know that you are working with a company that has specialized in court construction since 1978.
